Connect Stripe first

Every shop connects its own Stripe account. tatbook never holds your money. When a client pays a deposit or a balance, the funds land directly in your Stripe account. Stripe pays out to your bank daily. For a new account each payment waits 7 days, dropping to 2 days after a month with no disputes or fraud warnings. Until your Stripe account is connected and fully verified, you cannot require deposits or send payment links. Only the owner can set this up, in Settings, Payment processor.

Card at booking

When a service requires a deposit, the client pays by card the moment they book, right on your page. It happens with no extra step from you.

Text to pay

From an appointment, press Record payment, choose Payment link, and press Send link. The client gets the link by text, opens it on their own phone and pays by card, no app required. This works for a deposit you did not collect up front, or for the balance due at the end of a session. The link is tied to that one appointment and updates automatically once it is paid. Owners, managers and the appointment's artist can send one. Front desk cannot.

Cash and other payments

If a client pays you cash, or pays some other way outside tatbook, record it on the appointment yourself. Press Record payment, choose Cash or External, enter the amount, and add a note if you like. tatbook marks that money as collected. Cash and other manually recorded payments carry no processing fee since they never move through tatbook.

What tatbook charges

Card payments processed through tatbook, deposits, balances and payment links, carry a booking fee that depends on your plan. On Solo the booking fee is 6% plus 30 cents per payment. Shop pays a lower 4.9% plus 30 cents, all in, with no separate platform fee on top. Upgrading to Shop buys that rate down. By default the client pays it on top of the price. Once Stripe is connected, Booking Rules lets you choose whether the client pays the fee, you absorb it, or you split it. Connect Stripe before you save Booking Rules, or the fee setting resets to you absorbing it.

Refunds

If a deposit needs to be refunded, for example after a cancellation outside your cancellation window, tatbook refunds it automatically. The booking fee is not refundable. When you cancel or refund, the client gets their full payment back and the fee comes out of your share. For anything outside the normal cancellation flow, an appointment's detail view has a Refund button that owners, managers and the appointment's own artist can use.
